Earl Scruggs

Banjo pioneer Earl Scruggs died in a Nashville hospital on Tuesday at the age of 88.  Scruggs invented a three-finger banjo-picking style (now known as the Scruggs style). An alternative to the customary two-finger style, it allowed him to play a song's melody and rhythm at the same time.  Steve Paulson spoke with Scruggs in 2004.
