AUDIO

How does the audio player work?

What are the technical requirements for my computer to be able to listen and download?  Do I need any special programs? What if it isn’t working?

Our interviews are in MP3 format. Any web browser or computer system that currently plays audio will be able to play and/or download all of our interviews.

How do the Player controls work?

The player has three buttons: Previous, Play/Pause, and Next.

Clicking "Previous" will return you to the last audio item played.
Clicking the center button will toggle between play and pause for the current selection.
Clicking "Next" will skip the remainder of the current selection, and move on to the next item in your list.  If the current selection is the last in the list, the "Next" button will end audio playback.

Clicking on the slider bar in the center of the player box will move to a different point in the show or interview.  To the right of the center slider bar is a volume icon and a second slider bar. Click on the icon to mute or unmute audio, or on the slider bar to the right to increase or decrease player volume.

To clear your entire playlist, click on "Clear Playlist" at the bottom of the playlist box.
(The current selection and Recently Played items will not be removed.)

No matter what I click on, I can only hear one specific piece of audio.
What's going on?

The TTBOOK site utilizes a playlist feature, so that you can create a set of shows or interviews to listen to, one after another.  This allows you to select other items you'd like to hear without interrupting your current selection.

If you find that you're able to access a single piece only, check the right side of the audio player window.  The other audio files you've requested may be lined up beneath the current show or segment.  You can click on the 'play' button next to one of these to hear it.

How can I manage my playlist?

When you click "Play" or "Listen" on the site, the show or interview selected will be automatically added to the end of your playlist.

You can manage your playlist in several ways.

Clicking on the "Play" icon next to any playlist item will skip to that item.
You can also click on the "Remove" button next to an item to remove it from your playlist.

If you'd like to hear a previous selection again, you can click the "Previous" button on the player, or go to the Recently Played box below the playlist and click on the "Add" icon next to the selection, and it will be added to the end of your playlist.

You can rearrange your playlist by clicking on the arrows to the left of any item and holding down your mouse button to drag that item to a different spot on the list.

SEARCHING THE SITE

Can I search the site for a guest?

In the upper right-hand corner of every page (including this one) is an orange box. Just type the name of the guest and their interview(s) will show up.

Why isn’t my search coming up with any results?

It is possible that what you are searching for isn't a guest we have, interview, or a topic we have covered. As above, if you do not spell the search query correctly it will not find it in our database (our search does NOT correct spelling).

How can I find a show  I heard a few months ago on the radio?

In our navigation bar on top of every page (including this one) is a drop down down menu under INTERVIEW ARCHIVES. Please click on SHOWS BY YEAR.

How can I find the title of a book that I heard on your show?

In the upper right-hand corner of every page (including this one) is an orange box. Just type the name of the book and the interview will show up. If you don't know or remember the name of the book please search by keyword. For example, if you are looking for the book "Sonata Mulattica" by Poet Rita Dove but don't remember her name and can't spell "Mulattica" you can search "poet" and she will be listed among the poets we have had on our show.

OTHER

Can I submit an idea for an interview?

Of course. Please just email us.

How long does an interview stay on your website?

Once an interview airs on TTBOOK it enters our database and will stay there until the end of time.

Why can’t I find the list of music you used in the show?

We are still working on adding links to all music tracks before moving the list from the old site to this one. If the list is available for a given show, you'll see a link in the show description.

How do I find when my local station airs TTBOOK?

Please click here for a complete list of local station times.

Will you be adding any additional features to the website?

Yes, yes, yes. Stay tuned for some VERY exciting new features in the months and years to come.  If you have an idea for the website please contact us.

How do I order a CD copy of your interviews?

Please call our audience services at 1-800-747-7444.
