Tommy Caldwell’s ascent of Yosemite’s Dawn Wall is considered the hardest rock climb in history. It capped 7 years of grueling preparation. But it wasn’t his most harrowing ordeal. That happened when he was kidnapped in the Kyrgyzstan mountains by Islamic militants and only survived by pushing his captor off a cliff.
