Karen Le Billon believes American parents have a lot to learn from the French -- especially when it comes to feeding children.   When Le Billon moved her family to France, she discovered that not only do French children "eat everything", the public school system is designed to foster healthy eating habits.  There are no snacks and no vending machines in French schools, and children may not pack a lunch.  Instead, French public schools serve all students a 3- or 4-course hot lunch, every day.

The school lunch routine in France consisting of a four-course meal is downright weird.

And what's so weird about it? Weird because it is foreign and unusual for you, maybe? A four-course meal sounds downright wonderful and healthy to me!

Well, then, if it's "downright weird", we'd better just keep doing it the good ol' American way! Forget the childhood obesity epidemic in this country--your thoughtful and incisive comment has changed my thinking completely. Thanks, Sean!
