Remembering Rachel Carson - Rob Nixon

May 4, 2014

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Rachel Carson, a pioneer of the environmental movement. Rob Nixon holds the Rachel Carson chair in English at the UW-Wisconsin.  He says she was something of a reluctant activist.

I was wondering what the band and song name was for the music that was played after the Rob Nixon interview on Rachel Carson.

How can I get a copy of Ms. Carson's lettter to Dorothy Freeman that was read at her memorial, the letter Dixon read in his piece today??

On your program the interviewee asserts that Silent Spring made a big splash in American culture when in came out in 1962 which I remember. However there was no coverage on PBS as Mr. Dixon asserts, since PBS didn't exist until 1970.
