Noted nature writer Terry Tempest Williams is one of this country's most ardent advocates for the preservation of wild places.  She also knows from first-hand experience that wild woods can be dangerous, if visited with the wrong person.  In her new book of essays, "When Women Were Birds," she tells the story of the day she narrowly escaped a brutal attack, while hiking in Idaho's Sawtooth Wilderness.

Wonderful show -- Into the Woods -- but what was the musical piece between the Terry Tempest Williams interview and the following segment? It was beautiful -- a female vocalist with incredible range, singing about walking in the woods and meeting a fox who told her to run away.

I am going to be haunted by that music until I can find out who sang it and where I can buy that song and album.

Thanks for a great show as always.

The audio for this is playing Cheryl Strayed on Hiking the Pacific Crest Trail -

I just checked, and the right audio plays for me. Check to make sure you didn't have more than one episode cued on your player. I make that mistake all the time.

Hello:

What I heard early Sunday afternoon about the said escape was heroic, indeed. Although less related to wilderness, to have known how to take control at the said moment is worth feeling good about. After hearing the details, it seemed necessary to indicate such accordingly.
