Marita Golden

The author of over a dozen works of fiction and nonfiction, Marita Golden’s works are favorites with book clubs, used in college courses from literature to sociology around the country, and are recognized as having added depth and complexity to the canon of contemporary African American writing.

As a teacher of writing, Marita Golden has served on the faculties of Emerson College, Virginia Commonwealth University, George Mason University and the University of the District of Columbia. Her two-day writing workshops annually attract writers from all over the country to engage not only in the process of enhancing their writing skills, but also finding and creating a supportive writing community.

Whether speaking before audiences of college students, seniors, writers or educators, Marita Golden is inspiring and dynamic. She has spoken internationally and is a popular Black History and Women’s History Month presenter.
