This week on the show, we’re getting in touch with our skin. It’s something that we think about a lot these days. We have to stay six feet from one another. No more shaking hands or hugging. We’ve been told to stop touching our faces. We’ve also been told to take care of our physical and mental well-being in these times. But what if the way you take care of yourself is by touching your face?
Before the pandemic, I was religious about doing my multi-step skincare routine every morning before work and every night before bed. It gave me a certain sense of comfort to take ten minutes to focus on myself.
Now that I have all the time in the world to myself, I'm finding that skincare doesn’t give me the same comfort as it once did. I’m not venturing out into the world much anymore. And when I do, it’s behind a mask. It doesn’t make sense to try and prevent acne or dull looking skin. Who would see it?
I’m not sure how we are going to fall back into our old routines once the pandemic subsides. That includes skincare routines. Some things may never go back to the way they were, but I’m finding that some changes are easier to accept than we might expect.
I woke up to the biggest pimple of my life the other day and I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy to see a pimple. Like everything in life, our skin changes constantly. We can fight against it, or learn to accept the things we cannot change.
