A few weeks ago I asked if you took TTBOOK on walks with you. We heard from listeners about where we go with you, and how you listen to the show on walks, or in other locations or times. As we create each episode, it delights us to think about you listening. Please be in touch to let us know what you think about any show or topic, or just what’s on your mind these days, at listen@ttbook.org. Up this weekend – “As Read By the Author,” where you’ll hear the glorious voices of writers like Neil Gaiman and Nnedi Okorafor. Here are some of our favorite responses from your own voices, our TTBOOK community.

I have to admit that I never walk and listen to podcasts at the same time. I would miss all the sounds of nature that way. I do, however, almost always listen to your podcast (which I love very much) on Sunday mornings as I drive to the location I've picked for that morning's walk. TTBOOK is a wonderful, welcome companion. Thank you.

You all accompany me while I make dinner and I swear, the best dinners I make are when I'm listening to your podcasts. I am utterly grateful for the wisdom you bring me.

I have been meaning to write this to Anne for a few months. Your question in today’s newsletter prompted me.
I do a good deal of walking and am always listening to something educational. TTBOOK fills the bill. We were visiting our daughter and her family in Portland, OR in September, awaiting the arrival of their new baby. They live in a wonderful neighborhood with charming streets with challenging sidewalks. It was on one of my longer walks when I heard a wonderful story about “walking” on TTBOOK. It made me smile. The very next show I listened to was on why we should be reading children’s books during the pandemic. One of the authors mentioned in the show was Beverly Cleary, who lived in Portland. As I was listening, I realized that I was walking on Klickitat Street. Klickitat St is where Ramona Quimby lived. Ramona was a character in Cleary’s books.
There is a wonderful park I traverse on my walks in the neighborhood that has an impressive collection of brass casting statues of Cleary’s characters. Attached is a photo of a statue of Ramona. These wonderful coincidences have happened numerous times while listening to TTBOOK. Please keep the remarkable stories coming!
