Stay Tuned for More from Charles, Shannon and Angelo

Hey friends,

We’re finishing up the final, farewell “To the Best of Our Knowledge” show to air the weekend of September 27. Our next newsletter will be our last, too, and you’ll hear from Anne and Steve then. Today, Charles, Shannon and Angelo have a few thoughts about what they’ll be working on next and how to reach them to stay in touch.

Last winter Charles Monroe-Kane was the co-artist-in-residence at the ILLU Science and Art center in Ilulissat, Kalallit Nunnat (Greenland). He hopes to return to Kalallit Nunnat this winter to produce a podcast series about the sculpture project he was a part of there. The project is called Sermersauq: The Last Ice Project.

The project’s aim is to extract and sculpt a massive piece of ancient ice from Sermersauq (the Greenland Ice Sheet) and house it in a reliquary vessel. The sculpture will tour the world as a frozen ambassador, so to speak, a symbol of planetary fragility in the face of climate change. You can read more information about the project here, (including how you can help make it happen).

For more about what Charles is up to you can check out his website.

Shannon Henry Kleiber has re-started her independent media company she had before coming to TTBOOK (regular listeners will know she’s a former Washington Post staff writer and columnist and the author of two books). Much of her work is up at this site about her writing and radio interviews, and she also has an author web site.

Shannon will be working on writing and audio projects, including one on documentary poetry. She’ll be a contributing journalist for the Economic Hardship Reporting Project. And she’ll also be around in the literary world in Madison, hosting an interview at the Wisconsin Book Festival this fall.

Shannon has started a newsletter, Cadence: On Writing & Sound, and she hopes you’ll subscribe and connect with her there.

Angelo Bautista is currently applying for jobs and exploring other projects. You can find them at their LinkedIn (please hire me). Their work and contact information can be found at this website.

Angelo is also considering joining many other laid off journalists by starting a Substack or some other newsletter as a creative outlet. Maybe a YouTube channel or a podcast? Who knows! In the meantime, they’ll be reading, writing, listening, thrifting, decorating and trying to take it all in.
