Bruce Black

Retired US Air Force pilot

Bruce Black is a private consultant with unmatched experience in both Unmanned Aerial Systems and the Law Enforcement fields.  His experience provides clients with unique insights into, and integration with, Remotely Piloted Aircraft, acquisitions, logistics, planning, operations and their system’s tremendous potential in Remote Sensing.

Bruce served five years as an FBI agent in his first assignment as a Special Agent in the Las Vegas field office where he was assigned to the White Collar Squadron, the Special Operations Group and received training as a Technical Agent.  He became the division’s chief pilot and logged more than 1500 hours as a surveillance pilot on criminal investigations.  His training included advanced surveillance techniques and electronics as well as telephonic, wiretap, automotive and consensual recording methods.

Bruce has retired from the US Air Force and the Nevada Air National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel after a 28-year career.  During his time in the Air Force he logged more than 4000 hours in the T-37 as an Instructor Pilot, the C-130, the MQ-1/Predator and the RQ-170/Wraith.  His service culminated with over 1500 hours of combat time in the Predator and the C-130 and included multiple deployments into, and out of, theatre with multiple aircraft types and systems.  During his final posting and his last four years, Bruce was assigned to the Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence at the Pentagon, Headquarters US Air Force, and the Unmanned Aerial Systems Task Force as the MQ-1 and MQ-9 Subject Matter Expert.

Bruce received a degree from New Mexico State University with a B.S. in Geology and a concentration in Geophysics.  Recent opportunities have focused attention on Remote Sensing and Bruce is committed to delivering his clients the best possible consultation on the combination of systems, infrastructure and sustainment to achieve their desired outcomes.  His approach begins with a complete understanding of the client’s needs, budget and risk tolerance.  Only after these are fully understood and defined is that knowledge then combined with his extensive knowledge of the potential systems, sensors and operational constraints.  Then and only then is a solution recommended for implementation and sustainment.  Bruce’s commitment is to the client’s needs and the “tip to tail” solution for their individual problem set.
