Victor McDonald

Domestic Abuse Advocate

Victor McDonald was a chef for the University of Wisconsin until a bad fall cracked his spine. He's fine now, but the injury set him on a course to seek help. After eight years of doctors, surgeries, rehabs and abuse from his partner, he put his pride aside, called a domestic abuse hotline and told them what he was going through. They put him in a hotel and gave him some numbers to call. Every disability, housing and shelter agency he called couldn't house him for at least a week. Then he called the Community Action Coalition. He says the folks at CAC listened to his problem, paid attention to his situation and in only three days, had him placed in an apartment. He lives and studies in Madison, WI.
