I’ve spent much of today reacting to things – phone calls, e-mails, dogs, kids. News of the day, a few house disasters, a fun conversation with friends, hearing some new music with colleagues over Zoom. It often seems like our lives are in chaos — a combination of the wonderful and terrible and mundane – but scattered and in too many pieces to see together or maybe even appreciate as a whole. I know yoga and meditation, to-do lists and goal-setting will help – but sometimes I’m too distracted to figure that out.
We may, as some think, need this chaos to live and thrive, but still yearn for a little clarity, a little calm, somewhere. It’s what this show is about that we re-air this week, “Searching for Order in the Universe.” We talk with Lulu Miller about what happens when we try to impose order. Two mathematicians and a data scientist tell us how they see the world, and an exploration into the world of eels shows us there are some things we may never truly know.
How do you face chaos? How do you find calm? Let us know at listen@ttbook.org.
