Anyone who has been on a plane recently knows how much of a disaster air travel has become. Canceled flights, strained workforces, lost luggage, crowded terminals, a system-wide Federal Aviation Administration outage… It makes you wonder if travel is even worth it at all. I’ve certainly had that thought.
This week, we ask how travel can be better. Not just better, but more ethical. Pent-up demand and rising fuel costs have ticket prices soaring, but the price tag of travel shouldn’t be travelers’ only concern. Even before the pandemic, travel has had problems with overtourism, environmental sustainability, and cultural sensitivity. While these issues are far bigger than any individual tourist can carry, it’s up to us to demand for big changes and accountability in tourism. Because the world is not only worth exploring, but saving and maintaining.
Safe travels,
Angelo
