If you want to unpack the complete history of African musical migration, you’d have to go way back, to the beginning of European colonization, says musicologist Ron Radano. He's been rewriting the history of race and Black music, and today, he says, "We are all African when we listen." But if you’re thinking we’ll never know what that early African music sounded like... that’s not entirely true, as Radano recently discovered.
