Porochista Khakpour has been fighting a mystery illness for years. Eventually, she got a diagnosis — late-stage Lyme disease — but a diagnosis hasn't given her much resolution. The chronic disease causes secondary ailments, countless medical procedures and tests and the inability to just get things done some days.
The Iranian-American novelist wrote about her experience of the disease in “Sick: A Memoir."
